The great celebration in honour of Nossa Senhora do Mar, patron saint of our fishermen, people of great faith and tradition, takes place in the fishing district of Silvalde on the first weekend of August.
Every year, tradition always keeps up with a program full of animation and lots of music. The first day, the traditional "Fishermen's Parade" occurred among the Town Hall and the different neighbourhoods. Along the city streets, men, proudly dressed as fishermen, and women, all striking with their aprons, remember and honour the profession of those who risk their lives to support their families.
Thousands of people contemplate, year after year, the magnificent work of sea people.
